Na Hoku Solitaire Diamond
Each Na Hoku Solitaire center diamond is cut for maximum brilliance. Na Hoku Solitaire diamonds up to 1 carat are accompanied by a GemEx(TM) Light Performance Analysis (TM) report testifying to the diamond's brilliance. All Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds have a Brilliance Scope (TM) rating of High or Very High.

Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds of 1/2 to 1 carat are accompanied by an I.G.I. or G.I.A. Diamond Report showing the individual number, description, and information regarding the diamond's shape and cut, proportions, finish, clarity grade, color grade, and cut grade.

All Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds are laser inscribed; "Na Hoku". Diamonds of 1/2 carat or larger are laser inscribed with "Na Hoku" and the I.G.I. or G.I.A. diamond number on the diamond's girdle; visible using 10X magnification.

Cut
A full cut round brilliant diamond is produced with 58 facets whose placement and angles maximize the diamond's sparkle and brilliance.

Diamonds can be cut to maximize either carat weight or brilliance. Maximizing carat weight can result in a diamond that is cut either too deep or too shallow. While this results in a larger diamond, light will "leak out" of diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow resulting in a loss of brilliance.

Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds are cut to proportions that ensure that the vast majority of light entering from the top of the diamond is reflected back through the top producing maximum brilliance.

Each and every round brilliant cut, princess cut and cushion cut center diamond selected for our Na Hoku Solitaire rings must meet or exceed some of the highest standards in the diamond trade. Because of these exacting standards, less than five-percent (5%) of all diamonds are chosen to be laser inscribed with the Na Hoku name and used in the Na Hoku Solitaire collection.

Color
To many, most diamonds look colorless, but the subtle differences in color result in the value and desirability of a diamond. The closer a diamond is to having no color, the more valuable it becomes.

Color grades start at (D-F) Colorless, through (G-J) Near Colorless, through (K-M) Faint, etc. Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds are (G-I) at the top of the Near Colorless color grade scale.

Other color grades are available on request by contacting Na Hoku Customer Service, or by visiting our Na Hoku Store location.

Clarity
Formed in nature, diamonds may possess characteristics of crystallization which could be very minute trace minerals that are part of the crystallization process. These natural characteristics may appear as tiny black or white marks in the diamond called "inclusions".

Clarity grades start at (FL/IF) Flawless and Internally Flawless, through (I3) Included-3. Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds are (VS1 to SI2) on the Clarity Grading Scale.

Carat Weight
Carat weight is the unit of measure that signifies the size of the diamond by its weight and not by measurement. It is not a factor that denotes quality. Larger diamonds (heavier carat weight) are rarer and therefore more expensive than smaller diamonds.
Although an important determining factor in the value of the diamond; carat weight along with cut, color and clarity (the 4C's) are all contributing factors in determining value of a diamond.

Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds are selected for the best possible combination of carat weight, cut, color, and clarity. Na Hoku Solitaire rings are available with round brilliant cut or princess cut center diamonds of 1/4 carat, 1/3 carat, 1/2 carat, 3/4 carat, 1.00 carat, and larger, or cushion cut center diamonds of 1/2 carat, 3/4 carat, 1.00 carat, and larger.
Larger diamonds are available on request by contacting Na Hoku Customer Service, or visiting a Na Hoku Store location.

Certificates and Information

Each Na Hoku Solitaire center diamond is carefully selected to guarantee its quality and beauty.

Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds of 1/2 to 1 carat are accompanied by an International Gemological Institute (I.G.I) or a Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A) Diamond Report testifying to the diamond's color and clarity.

GemEx Light Performance Analysis

All Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds up to 1 carat are also accompanied by a GemEx Light Performance Analysis.

GemEx® Systems has been the light performance standard in the diamond industry since 1998.
The GemEx BrillianceScope® Analyzer, which uses patented spectrophotometer technology, measures a diamond's white light (brilliance), color light (fire) and scintillation (sparkle).

It then rates each of these three measures compared to other diamonds of the same shape. The scale for each shape was set by measuring thousands of diamonds to determine the highest and lowest amount of white light, color light and scintillation possible for each shape.

The Light Performance Report includes the three bar graphs and also shows images of the diamond under 5 different light views used for measurement of Light Performance:

International Gemological Institute Diamond Report
Since 1975 International Gemological Institute (I.G.I.) reports have proven to be the internationally recognized benchmark for gemstone and fine jewelry evaluation.

I.G.I has no affiliation with any gem or jewelry sales organizations, resulting in the optimum platform for total independence in reporting accurate and consistent results.

Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds of 1/2 to 1 carat are accompanied by an I.G.I. Diamond Report showing the individual number, description, and information regarding the diamond's shape and cut, proportions, finish, clarity grade, color grade, and cut grade. All Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds are laser inscribed; "Na Hoku". Na Hoku Solitaire center diamonds of 1/2 to 1 carat are laser inscribed with "Na Hoku" and the I.G.I. diamond number on the diamond's girdle; visible using 10X magnification.

The I.G.I. Diamond Report is essentially a statement attesting to the authenticity of a diamond and provides a reliable and accurate report of its identity and grade based on an internationally recognized system.

Each diamond is scientifically analyzed by several gemologists who use their experience in combination with state-of-the-art equipment to produce an accurate description of the characteristics of the diamond and the quality of its cut. With its detailed information presented in understandable language, the different qualities of a diamond can be truly appreciated.

The grade or quality of a diamond is based on four characteristics commonly referred to as the 4C's: the Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight. These are analyzed and the results are recorded in the IGI Diamond Report.
This big, full-page report, containing all report details, a diamond diagram, and unique security features, comes in slightly different sizes, depending on the IGI location where it was issued: United States: 8,5in x 11in (218mm x 278mm) and elsewhere: 210mm x 290mm (8,25in x 11,4in)

Some Na Hoku Solitaire Diamonds might be accompanied by a Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A) Diamond Report instead.

All of this information is handsomely packaged in a Na Hoku blue leatherette binder for safe keeping.

Conflict-Free Diamonds
The United Nations (UN) defines conflict diamonds as "...diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council."

In the 1990’s these diamonds were sometimes referred to as "blood diamonds"; diamonds illegally traded to fund conflict in war-torn areas, particularly in central and western Africa. In July 2000, the global diamond industry implemented its zero tolerance policy towards conflict diamonds by creating the Kimberley Process Certification System* and System of Warranties in conjunction with the UN and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Today, more than 99% of the world's diamonds are now from conflict free sources and are officially traded under the UN mandated Kimberley Process Certification System. Our diamonds are acquired from respected sources in the jewelry trade that are in compliance with the Kimberley Process Certification System and System of Warranties.

The Kimberley Process requires participating governments to ensure that each shipment of rough diamonds be exported/imported in a secure container, accompanied by a uniquely numbered, government-validated certificate stating that the diamonds are from sources free of conflict. Under the Kimberley Process, diamond shipments can only be exported and imported within co-participant countries in the Kimberley Process. No uncertified shipments of rough diamonds will be permitted to enter or leave a participant's country. This ring-fences conflict diamonds and as such ensures they are unable to enter the legitimate diamond supply chain and thus, cannot be used for illegitimate purposes.
