The Na Hoku Bridal Collection
Cut
A full cut round brilliant diamond is produced with 58 facets whose placement and angles maximize the diamond's sparkle and brilliance.
Diamonds can be cut to maximize either carat weight or brilliance. Maximizing carat weight can result in a diamond that is cut either too deep or too shallow. While this results in a larger diamond, light will "leak out" of diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow resulting in a loss of brilliance.
Na Hoku Bridal Collection diamonds are cut to proportions that ensure that the vast majority of light entering from the top of the diamond is reflected back through the top producing maximum brilliance.
Each and every round brilliant cut and princess cut diamond selected for our Na Hoku Bridal Collection rings must meet or exceed some of the highest standards in the diamond trade. Because of these exacting standards, less than five-percent (5%) of all diamonds are chosen to be laser inscribed with the Na Hoku name and used in the Na Hoku Bridal Collection.

Color
To many, most diamonds look colorless, but the subtle differences in color result in the value and desirability of a diamond. The closer a diamond is to having no color, the more valuable it becomes.
Color grades start at (D-F) Colorless, through (G-J) Near Colorless, through (K-M) Faint, etc. Na Hoku Bridal Collection diamonds are (G-I) at the top of the Near Colorless color grade scale.

Other color grades are available on request by contacting our Customer Service department, or visiting our Na Hoku stores.

Clarity
Formed in nature, diamonds may possess characteristics of crystallization which could be very minute trace minerals that are part of the crystallization process. These natural characteristics may appear as tiny black or white marks in the diamond called "inclusions".
Clarity grades start at (FL/IF) Flawless and Internally Flawless, through (I3) Included-3. Na Hoku Bridal Collection diamonds are (VS1 to SI2) on the Clarity Grading Scale. Inclusions cannot be seen with the naked eye in diamonds with a clarity grade of SI2 and above.
Other clarity grades are available on request by contacting ourCustomer Service department, or visiting our Na Hoku stores.

Carat Weight
Carat weight is the unit of measure that signifies the size of the diamond by its weight and not by measurement. It is not a factor that denotes quality. Larger diamonds (heavier carat weight) are rarer and therefore more expensive than smaller diamonds.
Although an important determining factor in the value of the diamond; carat weight along with cut, color and clarity (the 4C's) are all contributing factors in determining value of a diamond.
Na Hoku Bridal Collection diamonds are selected for the best possible combination of carat weight, cut, color, and clarity.

Conflict-Free Diamonds
The United Nations (UN) defines conflict diamonds as "...diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council."
In the 1990’s these diamonds were sometimes referred to as "blood diamonds"; diamonds illegally traded to fund conflict in war-torn areas, particularly in central and western Africa.
In July 2000, the global diamond industry implemented its zero tolerance policy towards conflict diamonds by creating the Kimberley Process Certification System* and System of Warranties in conjunction with the UN and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Today, more than 99% of the world's diamonds are now from conflict free sources and are officially traded under the UN mandated Kimberley Process Certification System.
Our diamonds are acquired from respected sources in the jewelry trade that are in compliance with the Kimberley Process Certification System and System of Warranties.
* The Kimberley Process requires participating governments to ensure that each shipment of rough diamonds be exported/imported in a secure container, accompanied by a uniquely numbered, government-validated certificate stating that the diamonds are from sources free of conflict. Under the Kimberley Process, diamond shipments can only be exported and imported within co-participant countries in the Kimberley Process. No uncertified shipments of rough diamonds will be permitted to enter or leave a participant's country. This ring-fences conflict diamonds and as such ensures they are unable to enter the legitimate diamond supply chain and thus, cannot be used for illegitimate purposes.
